Marshman, Jr.

“I am big. It’s the pictures that got small.” – Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson)

“You see, this is my life! It always will be! Nothing else! Just us, the cameras, and those wonderful people out there in the dark! All right, Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my close-up.” – Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson)

2) A Malvada (All About Eve, 1950)
Roteiro adaptado por Joseph L. Mankiewicz de The Wisdom of Eve, rádio novela de Mary Orr

“Funny business, a woman’s career, the things you drop on the way up the ladder so you can move faster. You forget you’ll need them again when you get back to being a woman. It’s one career all females have in common… being a woman. Sooner or later we’ve got to work at it no matter how many other careers we’ve had or wanted. And in the last analysis nothing is any good unless you can look up just before dinner or turn around in bed and there he is. Without that you’re not a woman. You’re something with a French provincial office or a book full of clippings but you’re not a woman. Slow curtain, the end.” – Margo Channing (Bette Davis)

3) O Poderoso Chefão (The Godfather, 1972)
Roteiro adaptado por Mario Puzo e Francis Ford Coppola do livro de Mario Puzo

“I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse.” – Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando)

“I never wanted this for you. I work my whole life… I don’t apologize… to take care of my family, and I refused to be a fool, dancing on the string held by all those bigshots. I don’t apologize… that’s my life… but I thought that, that when it was your time, that you would be the one to hold the string. Senator Corleone, Governor Corleone. Well, it wasn’t enough time, Michael. It wasn’t enough time.” – Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando)

4) O Sol é Para Todos (To Kill a Mockingbird, 1962)
Roteiro adaptado por Horton Foote do livro de Harper Lee

“Jean Louise. Jean Louise, stand up. Your father’s passing.” – Rev. Sykes (Bill Walker)

“I remember when my daddy gave me that gun. He told me that I should never point it at anything in the house; and that he’d rather I’d shoot at tin cans in the backyard. But he said that sooner or later he supposed the temptation to go after birds would be too much, and that I could shoot all the blue jays I wanted… if I could hit them, but to remember it was a sin to kill a mockingbird. Well, I reckon because mockingbirds don’t do anything but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat people’s gardens, don’t nest in the corncrib, they don’t do one thing but just sing their hearts out for us.” – Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck)

5) Quanto Mais Quente Melhor (Some Like it Hot, 1959)
Roteiro adaptado por Billy Wilder e I.A.L. Diamond de Fanfare of Love, filme alemão escrito por Robert Thoeren e M. Logan

“Will you look at that! Look how she moves! It’s like Jell-O on springs. Must have some sort of built-in motor or something. I tell you, it’s a whole different sex!” – Jerry (Jack Lemmon)

“Well, nobody’s perfect.” – Osgood (Joe E. Brown)

6) Casablanca (Casablanca, 1942)
Roteiro adaptado por Julius J., Philip G. Epstein e Howard Koch da peça Everybody Comes to Rick’s, de Murray Burnett e Joan Alison

“Play it once, Sam. For old times’ sake… Play it, Sam. Play As Time Goes By.” – Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman)

“And you never will. But I’ve got a job to do, too. Where I’m going, you can’t follow. What I’ve got to do, you can’t be any part of. Ilsa, I’m no good at being noble, but it doesn’t take much to see that the problems of three little people don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you’ll understand that. Now, now… Here’s looking at you kid.” – Rick (Humphrey Bogart)

7) Os Bons Companheiros (Goodfellas, 1990)
Roteiro adaptado por Nicholas Pileggi e Martin Scorsese do livro Wise Guy, de Nicholas Pileggi

“To me, being a gangster was better than being President of the United States.” – Henry Hill (Ray Liotta)

“You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it’s me, I’m a little fucked up maybe, but I’m funny how, I mean funny like I’m a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I’m here to fuckin’ amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?” – Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci)

8) Rede de Intrigas (Network, 1976)
Roteiro original por Paddy Chayefsky

“I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore! I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore! I’M MAD AS HELL AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!” – Howard Beale (Peter Finch)

9) Hannah e Suas Irmãs (Hannah and Her Sisters, 1986)
Roteiro original por Woody Allen

“I’ll be the father, all you have to do is masturbate into a little cup.” – Mickey (Woody Allen)

“A week ago I bought a rifle, I went to the store… I bought a rifle! I was gonna, you know, if they told me I had a tumor, I was gonna kill myself. The only thing that might’ve stopped me… might’ve… is that my parents would be devastated. I would have to shoot them also first. And then I have an aunt and uncle, you know, it would’ve been a blood bath.” – Mickey (Woody Allen)

10) Sindicato de Ladrões (On the Waterfront, 1954)
Roteiro adaptado por Budd Schulberg dos artigos Crime on the Waterfront, de Malcolm Johnson

“You don’t understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let’s face it. It was you, Charley.” – Terry (Marlon Brando)
